History of St. Louis City Fitness
St. Louis City Fitness was formed in 1991 as an in-home personal training and continuing education service company by Marcia P. Wever. Since that time, the company has grown to reflect the changing needs of the fitness and wellness industry as well as to accommodate the growth and diversification of St. Louis City Fitness personnel.
Movement Center of St. Louis Studio
We offer STOTT® Pilates, GYROTONIC®, and Personal Training at The Movement Center of St. Louis, 7700 Clayton Road, Suite 100, Clayton, Missouri. Our personal training area includes functional training equipment as well as an outside patio training area. Pilates and GYROTONIC® training is offered in an intimate studio area with full-service equipment. We are the only facility in the St. Louis metropolitan area that offers full-service GYROTONIC®, Pilates, and personal training in one location!
We also offer in-home personal training using your own equipment – or we can bring in the tools you need for a great workout. We can also assist in designing a home gym, from simple to professional-quality.
Continuing Education for Fitness Professionals
We offer certification preparation and training courses for Personal Trainers and Group Exercise Instructors. These practical skills workshops consist of 6-20 hours of training and help participants learn or hone practical skills and/or prepare for national certification exams. Marcia P. Wever, owner and operator of St. Louis City Fitness, has been in the fitness/wellness industry since 1980. She has been a personal trainer since 1983 and a group exercise instructor since 1980. Her fitness management experience spans two decades and includes the University of Illinois, The Body Firm (Champaign/Urbana, IL), Bodyworks Educational and Fitness Services, and Wellbridge Fitness Center and Spa. Marcia is highly skilled in facility and program management in addition to being an experienced trainer.
In addition, Marcia is a Master Certification Specialist for The Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (http://www.afaa.com/) in Sherman Oaks, CA. She has worked for AFAA since 1985, designing and presenting their continuing education programs to fitness professionals nationwide. Her specialty is training and certification.

Matthew F. Wever, Ed.D. specializes in exercise facility management and development and program and/or personnel planning for the fitness industry. Dr. Wever obtained his Doctorate of Education from Saint Louis University, specializing in Educational Leadership in Higher Education. Matt has worked for the past 30 years as a senior administrator in Higher Education at the University of Waterloo, University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana), Saint Louis University and the Jewish Community Center of St. Louis. Dr. Wever would be happy to assist you with any needs pertaining to facility, program and/or personnel planning and management.
Sarah fell in love with Pilates in 2012 living in Brazil. She was an Ironman and it helped her diversify her personal fitness goals. Pilates gave her a deeper connection to her core, strategies for moving efficiently, and more mobility. She quickly saw improvements the Pilates method made to her overall fitness level and health, making her a better athlete. Sarah is a certified Balanced Body instructor. A new mom, Pilates is helping regain her balance and core strength – attributes she brings to all her clients.
Emilee started her Pilates training through Balanced Body Pilates in college at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point where she received a BA in Dance and Arts Management. As a dancer, movement has always been an essential part of Emilee’s life. She is passionate about helping others achieve their movement goals with Pilates for diverse populations. She sincerely believes that Pilates is for everyone, and that movement is a key component to self-fulfillment. Along with teaching, Emilee is currently dancing with Karlovsky & Company. She is also the company manager for MADCO (Modern American Dance Company).

Stefanie is a Personal Trainer who’s background in Physical Therapy and Athletic Training has equipped her to work with many different fitness levels. She is an expert in Kettlebell training and can help anyone who want to move better, get out of pain and get stronger. Stefanie also provides nutritional advice. Her Nutritarian eating style is for those who want to avoid and/or reverse disease, have more energy, feel better and look better. She makes and sells her Woot-tricious bars. Get one at the front entrance of the gym. They are a vegan option for breakfasts, snacks or desserts. Justin Wever is a St. Louis native and a graduate of the Chaminade College Preparatory School. While earning his Associates Degree from the St Louis Community College, he worked as a lifeguard and pool manager at the Jewish Community Centers in Creve Coeur and Chesterfield. During his time at the JCC, Justin has also served a number of supervisory roles in maintaining the pool and rental facilities. In 2012, Justin became an employee of St Louis City Fitness, maintaining facility equipment and supporting marketing promotions, open houses, and corporate wellness fairs. Since that time, Justin has also immersed himself in personal training and group exercise, receiving personal training certification from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and TRX. Justin is experienced in training a very wide variety of personal training clients as well as teaching many varied group exercise class types.
